After I got published and started writing more, I haven’t been able to read as much as I used to. This totally sucks, by the way. I’m hoping to do something about it but the truth is, I’m just not good at managing time. There are so many new-to-me authors whose books I want to try out and so many books that I want to read.
I wish I had more time to read. Oh, wait! I think my wish just came true…
Let’s talk about the books we are looking forward to reading this year (2020). I think I saw someone else do this type of post. I don’t exactly remember who, but I thought what a great idea to make a list of my top TBR books that I want to read as soon as possible. Perhaps, this list will prompt me to make more time for reading. Who knows?!
Top 10 Books on my TBR
Here are the books I hope to read soon.
1. That Girl From Nowhere by Dorothy Koomson
The story is about a girl who was adopted as a kid. Now she returns to her birthplace as an adult. There she finds out about her birth parents and the truth behind her adoption. Things are going to get serious, and she might decide that truth is not worth it after all.
This book is under contemporary romance fiction, and I have been planning to read it for quite some time now (years actually). Anyhow, I have finally purchased a hardcopy of this and bumped it up on my TBR list.
2. Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon
Another book on my TBR that I’m dying to read! I want to read it before I watch the movie. So, let’s see when I get the chance to do it.
This is a Young Adult romance novel. The story is about a girl suffering from a rare disease that prevents her from having any contact with the world at large. Let’s face it, there have been a lot of YA books about people suffering from incurable illnesses and I’m not sure how original this plot will be. Yet, I want to read it, because I just love this kind of story.
3. The Sun is Also a Star by Nicola Yoon
Another YA novel from a new-to-me author. I have high hopes when it comes to Nicola Yoon. I think that I’m going to enjoy these books. So let’s see if that happens or not…
4. Friend, Lovers, Chocolate by Alexander McCall Smith
This story is about a woman whose life choices are going to be influenced by friends, lovers, and temptations. This really sounds like a complicated romance novel. Exactly the type I enjoy most.
5. An Abundance of Katherines by John Green
I know that John Green is a well-known author. I have watched a few movies based on his works and loved them. As far as reading goes, I have only read one of his books and I enjoyed that one. So, I wanted to take a chance on this one too. Let’s hope that I enjoy it and find my next favorite story between these pages.
The story sounds absurd, to be honest, but that’s exactly why I thought I’d love it. Colin always falls for the girls named Katherine but they always dump him. So far he has been dumped by 19 Katherines in his life. Now he is on a mission to find the answers behind this strange predictability.
6. The Zahir by Paulo Coelho
Another famous author and another interesting story, I’m really looking forward to reading this one. If it is written like The Alchemist then I’m definitely going to love it. I hope it will be a thought-provoking story that explains a few of the mysteries of human life.
The story is about a man on a quest to find his missing wife. He travels half the world and finds so much more than her.
7. Trading Up by Candace Bushnell
Okay, so this one I bought blindly. I have no idea who the author is and I have never heard of this book, ever. I just saw it on a shelf in an old-books store and grabbed a copy. I might end up hating it, but sometimes a little mystery in life is a good thing…
8. The Bride’s Farewell by Meg Rosoff
This story has intrigued me. It is a story of a woman who runs off a day before her wedding and starts a new adventure. Then she meets a guy who is a wanderer. Now they must determine whether they have a future together or not. Sounds fun!
9. Undying Affinity by Sara Naveed
So, Sara Naveed is not a new author to me. I have read her book Our Story Ends Here. I had enjoyed that book and now I am looking forward to reading this. It’s a romance novel and a bit of a taboo. The story is about a girl who falls in love with one of her professors. Not my favorite trope, but let’s see how this one turns out to be.
10. Carolina Moon by Nora Roberts
There was a time when I loved Nora Roberts’s books. I’m not sure why but I got over them quickly. Anyhow, I just got myself a copy of this book and plan to read it in the hope of re-discovering my most favorite author.
Like many of her books, this one is also a romantic mystery. A young woman returns to her hometown and must uncover the mystery in her past. That’s the only way she can move on. It won’t be easy though. As the past skeletons come tumbling out of the closet, things are bound to get complicated…
So what are the books at the top of your TBR pile? Do share and happy reading!
